Michael J. Catalfimo was a featured speaker at a two-day onsite training seminar conducted by the American Legal & Financial Network (ALFN) in Cherry Hill, New Jersey on May 3-4, 2017. The seminar focused on legal updates in the residential mortgage industry. Mr. Catalfimo spoke on three separate panels over the course of two days.
- Legal Updates from the Eastern and Midwestern States
Mr. Catalfimo was a speaker and the moderator of this panel. He was joined by attorneys from Connecticut, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois and New Jersey to discuss general legal updates in the residential mortgage industry. Mr. Catalfimo concentrated on zombie properties; statute of limitations; pre-foreclosure notices; standing to sue; mandatory settlement conferences; motion practice; and foreclosure sales and REO’s in New York State.
- Reinstatement, Payoff and Redemption in New York Post-Prescott
Mr. Catalfimo and his fellow panelists from California, Illinois and Ohio discussed the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) following the Decision in Prescott v. Seterus, Inc., including discussion related to contract, regulatory and statutory obligations and limitations and best practices going forward.

This panel included Mr. Catalfimo from New York and panelists from Pennsylvania, Georgia and Colorado discussing topics related to real estate title, including evidence of title; common title instruments; common statutes; state title recording systems; title searches and defects; and mortgage debt, liens and transfers.
