LaFerriere Successfully Defends Claim Before Division Of Human Rights

Attorney Alaina K. Laferriere obtained a favorable Determination and Order After Investigation from the New York State Division of Human Rights on behalf of her client, an independently owned and operated food-service organization.

The Complainant, an employee of Ms. Laferriere’s client, filed a Complaint with the New York State Division of Human Rights alleging that Ms. Laferriere’s client unlawfully discriminated against him based upon race, color, and sex, in violation of N.Y. Exec. Law, Art. 15 (Human Rights Law).

After investigation by the Division of Human Rights, it was found that there was no probable cause to believe that Ms. Laferriere’s client had engaged in or was engaging in the unlawfully discriminatory practice as alleged and the Complaint was dismissed in its entirety.

Ms. Laferriere is an associate attorney with the firm, and practices primarily in the field of civil litigation representing municipalities, non-profit organizations, landlords, and employers.
