Michael J. Murphy has an active trial practice in civil rights, employment, and commercial litigation. He has tried cases in State and Federal Courts throughout upstate New York. He has also represented clients in matters related to risk management, governmental investigation, and governmental relations. Mr. Murphy is presently the Chief Operations Officer (COO) for the firm, and is the Chairman of the firm's Executive Committee.
Mr. Murphy is an active member of the New York State Bar Association (Trial Lawyers and Torts, Labor and Employment Law and Insurance and Compensation Law Sections), ALFA International (Vice-Chair, Member of the Board of Directors,and Vice-Chair of the Labor and Employment Practices Group), the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the Defense Research Institute (Employment Law Committee), and the Albany County Bar Association. He is a Trustee and Immediate Past President of the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association. He has lectured on topics related to trial of civil actions, employment law, Employment Practices Liability Insurance, and legal ethics.
Mr. Murphy has received the highest possible Peer Review Rating of "AV" in the Martindale-Hubbell Directory for Attorneys and is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New York, the United States District Court for the Northern, Southern, and Western Districts of New York and the Second Circuit, United States Court of Appeals.
